I've been playing Subway Surfers on and off for years. It's my go-to game when I'm waiting for something. Here's how I get coins and keys without spending real money.
Subway Surfers is simple, but if you want all the characters and boards, you need coins and keys. Lots of them .
Daily Rewards
Log in every day. The rewards aren't huge, but after a month you'll notice the difference. Day 7 gives a key, which is the rarest currency .
Mystery Boxes
You get mystery boxes just by playing. They drop coins, keys, and sometimes boosters. I open them whenever I get 5-10 stacked up .
Event Rewards
Subway Surfers has events all the time. Complete the challenges, get coins and keys. The World Tour events are usually the best for rewards .
Watching Ads
This is boring, but watching ads gives bonus coins and keys. I do it while watching TV - let the ad play, collect reward, repeat .
The problem is, unlocking characters takes forever. Some cost 50,000 coins or multiple keys. I wanted the new character last month and it took me 3 weeks of casual play .

I've been playing since 2012! Keys are still my biggest problem. Mihai finally showed me that link and it really helps unlocking those premium boards.
The Mystery Box stacking is a good tip. I usually open them one by one but stacking them feels more rewarding lol.
